I have a nephew with Downs Syndrome. He is loved fiercely!!
I CANNOT imagine how huge the hole would be in our family and all who have ever encountered Jonathan if his parents had chosen to “eradicate” him. I’m so thankful God made him and blessed us to be his family!!! Oh, yes and she sells prints, rarely an original though several are in a NY museum.
This world could learn a great deal right now from the heart of a child with Downs Syndrome. The love is unconditional. Makes me so sad. I’ve heard this before by a colleague who teaches middle school. She said that she sees less kids with Down Syndrome each year unless they are adopted from other countries or are from Hispanic families. I don’t know if her observation is statistically accurate, but either way, the fact that less of these kids are coming through the schools makes me think more people are “choosing” to have or not have a child with Downs Syndrome. Yes, makes me sad when all life is precious.
